PS. New Music Soon…
Let’s band together…and say a prayer for those in need.
Good Morning World,
I woke up to terrible news that Japan was hit with Earthquakes and Tsnumai. My prayers goes out to all those affected. This has got to be the most depressing and devastating news I have heard this year. These “natural disasters” are happening far too often and are just way to close for comfort.
I remember when the flooding of New Orleans occured. I felt sick to my stomach at what was transpiring. I felt an immediate urge to pack my clothes and some food in my knapsack, and literally go to New Orleans and help. I had friends tell me, “Camy you have to stop watching the news, you’re getting addicted. This is not good for you…” I would constantly have my tv on CNN, updating myself on what’s been happening. To this day, I still think about New Orleans, and I still want to go and see what volunteer opportunties I can do to help. They are still in need…Haiti is still in need…Indonesia is still in need. Let’s please not forget these countries and what they have been through.
I feel myself falling into the “addiction mode” again while watching the disaster take over Japan. I am feeling a little depressed and I don’t feel like going anywhere, but just staying on my computer and in front of the TV watching CNN.
Like I posted on facebook and twitter this morning. Prayer Warriors we need you to send out massive prayers to these places and people. For those in and around California, Hawaii and even on the western coast of Canada. My prayers are with you also.
As the rest of us continue on with our day…if you get upset about anything…just stop and remember the countries that are being affected right now. Know that what just happend to you; whether it was an argument with someone; you’re running late for an appointment; you forgot your lunch at home; you just received a parking/speeding ticket…you were woken up this morning to see a new day. Count your blessings.
It’s getting too close to comfort for me.
May GOD bless us all.
Lauryn Hill…
Hello All,
This will be a short quick post. Just wanted to say that I attended the Lauryn Hill Concert here in Toronto. A spectacular show. She was amazing, and she worked her butt off for 2.5 hours on stage.
Despite the long wait (that we were prepared for due to the previous venues she attended) she sure rocked the crowd, and gave us exactly what we’ve been missing from her.
It is a new year, which means new music is coming, a lot of shows and a plethora of goodies this year!
Thank you to all those who has come to @ least one of my shows last year, I grately appreciated it!!!!
I thank you for the continued support!!
Much love,
Ms. Camy
Freestyling with Scott J
Hey guys!
So much has occurred since I last blogged.
On December 2nd 2010, Kid Kut presented The Gift Of Music. The focus was to keep music within the schools curriculum here in Toronto. He rounded up all the hottest artists out of Toronto to and raise money and awareness to the issue.
It was a huge success.
There were artists such as Saukrates, Revived, Daniel Daley, Jully Black, and Ray Rob to name a few…I sang back-up again for Ray and the turn out was great.
I was unable to post any info on it prior to the date, as I had no access to the internet that week. I also was unable to blog about the following show on December 3rd @ CBC for their Winter season special. Again, great event and I had fun as always performing.
With that said, I have been able to upload the video of Scott J and I outside of Mic and Soul as he beat boxes and I sing a version of Real Love by Mary J. Completely freestyled it and it was so random. Check it out on Youtube, rate and comment.
Also was in the studio last week recording a new song…Mmmmm still thinking if I should post yet or not…will keep you posted on that as well!!
Holiday Season is fast approaching, what do you have planned for Christmas?
Happy Holidays,
Ms. Camy
Got damn….updates?
Hey ya’ll,
I am feeling sick this morning. Actually I lied. I started to feel weird from last night. I hadn’t eaten all day since my lunch outing from 1pm. So by 8pm I was feeling extremely hungry, but I refused to grab anything, because I wanted to complete my school work and then head home.
I left school @ 10pm.
After making a quick stop, my tummy couldn’t hold out anymore, and I ran and bought some fried shrimp from Pizza Pizza. They were real busy, and even though the man @ the counter, asked me 10 times what sauce I wanted (Cocktail sauce pls), He insisted on giving me some red hot sauce. (I dont do pepper)
I was not amused.
buuuuut, I didn’t even bother to say anything, because he was rushing to serve the rest of the hurd of people who came gushing in after me. (By this time it’s 11pm…) so I just said *meh* and proceeded to go home. Now anyone who knows me, knows that I LOVE shrimp. Like I could eat it everyday for 1 year and not get tired of it (Okie maybe 1 year is too drastic, but you catch my drift). I ate it and it smelt and tasted like fish. This has only happened once before to me. I have stopped eating fish about 3-4 years ago. The only fish I will eat is codfish mixed with something else, otherwise I don’t eat fish. So I was completely turned off by the smell.
I woke up this morning, late for class, and feeling even worse than I did last night. *steeeups*
==================
The purpose of this post today, is to update on the performance I had on sunday at Mic and Soul. Wanna shout-out Tracy who came through to show love and support. It was good times, and I ate like a pig!
The turnout wasn’t all too great, but the performances were one of the best they’ve had since I’ve been attending. It was their finale showcase for the year, and they wanted to end with a bang. A bang they sure did with a performer who beat boxes. Real talented Scott J came through and did a 10 min number on various styles of music. He tours with the Toronto Raptors and so you can always see him @ the stadium before and after the games.
I’ve always wanted to work with someone who can beat box, and do it well at that. So I am putting it out there to the universe, that Scott and I will be doing a collaboration.
I ended up singing a cover of Luther Vandross “So Amazing” as there were some issues with time and schedule that did not permit me to showcase a new song.
I will have sneak peek of a song that I will be recording this coming Friday. I will post it and you guys can provide your feedback on it.
Possible shows before the year-end I will continue to update, otherwise hope you have a better morning than myself!
